The family-friendly event hopes to encapsulate the holiday season through an outdoor European Christmas village with over 80 vendors selling handmade stocking stuffers alongside traditional European-themed food and drink.

"To... actually be able to talk to Santa and visit with him and take part in some Christmas activities, everybody’s always in a jolly mood and it’s just a really fun day for kids and parents," Latham said.

What Purdy hopes audience members will take away from his Dec. 6 talk is his immense gratitude for Glenbow Ranch Provincial Park, which he likened to a nearby natural oasis from Calgary's urban sprawl.

“We are looking forward to welcoming everyone back [for the event] and we’re hoping everybody enjoys the Christmas spirit that we’re trying to project,” she said, adding the event will mark the third weekend of Christmas-themed events in the Creek.

The faces of two new athletes will soon be gracing the walls of Genesis Place Recreation Centre.

In addition to the service gap analysis, HarGroup would also provide council with a suggestion of themes for the regional park that would build on its location, size, and geography, as well as create a “unique sense of place in Airdrie,” according to Wood.

Bert Church High School's annual hockey game between students and faculty was rebranded this year to memorialize and honour Norm Cobble, a long-serving teacher at the school who passed away last spring. The teachers won the game this year, which also raised over $5,000 for the Alberta Children's Hospital Foundation.

Proceeds from the Thunder's ticket, 50-50, and merchandise sales were donated to the Couling family to support funeral costs. 

“Our chef is Austrian, so it’s a wonderful opportunity for him to share some of his favourite street foods with our guests,” she said. “That always adds a fun touch.”
