A 33-year-old Rocky View County man has died following a motor vehicle collision in Springbank on Oct. 11.

Alberta RCMP Major Crimes has released the identity of the female human remains found in an abandoned trailer on Sept. 30.

“I think I know something about schools and there is a number of issues, specifically COVID and the precautions, or the lack thereof that have caused me great concern,” he said. “I think that is the single greatest issue, the most immediate for sure.”

In the last two weeks in the lead-up to the municipal election on Oct. 18, the Rocky View Weekly editorial staff has been sending questions to the candidates vying for spots on Rocky View County council.

Instead of offering an in-person or virtual all-candidates forum, the Town of Irricana has created a question-and-answer page on its website – townofirricana.ca – where voters and candidates can engage with each other in the lead-up to voting day on Oct. 18.

After the Sept. 7 council meeting, the City of Chestermere announced it will soon implement a speed reduction on Chestermere Boulevard from the current 80 kilometres an hour to 60 kilometres an hour (km/h).

With the municipal election less than a week away, long-time Rocky View County (RVC) resident Ted Francois is looking to nab the Division 5 council seat.

The Chestermere Historical Foundation aims to preserve and tell the lakeside city’s history for future generations, and they are planning a virtual presentation on the origins of Ralph Klein Park and Environmental Education Centre on Nov. 19.

On Oct. 22, the Town of Crossfield will be hosting its popular pumpkin hunt event, providing a chance for local kids to find and keep their own jack-o-lantern, take home some treats, win prizes, and dress up in their favourite costumes.

A dedication is set to adorn a red fire hydrant outside the Irricana Town Office to recognize current and former serving firefighters.
