Airdrie Public Library (APL) has a new exhibit on our walls called The Male Gaze, which some might find challenging, but will certainly spur conversation.

With 531,692 entries from 78 different countries, 14-year-old Joseph Lee is the only Canadian winner in the global competition, which features innovative vehicle designs.

According to mayor Brown, City council and administration have been advocating for this change since the benefit was first introduced in March 2021.

“The response has been awesome. It’s really been one of the best parts of the trip – the support from friends and family,” he said. “People I haven’t talked to in years have reached out and shown their support, either through donations or giving me some kind words of support.”

Your Local Ranch, located north of Airdrie, hosted farmyard fun and tours for visiting families during the Alberta Open Farm Days open house event on Aug. 13.

To pay homage to the organization's long-lasting roots, the theme of the party is the 1980s, to celebrate the opening of Community Links in 1982. 

“The purpose of this event is to build shared experiences and celebrate cultural diversity in Airdrie,” Chadwick said. 

The first week of August for me involved days of leisure, sunbathing, cool beverages, and pure unadulterated laziness. It was a much-needed break for some rest and relaxation following a busy couple of weeks in the newsroom.
