Province approves 19 recommendations from committee that consulted with victims of crime and agencies.

The Airdrie Food Bank is helping to feed hungry kids this summer, which is a time when many who rely on school lunch programs for sustenance go without.

Local quilt-maker, Shelley Titley, hosted her annual "Quilt Walk" on July 23 to celebrate Airdrie and the surrounding area's talented quilters.

Harley-Davidson hosted a motorcycle extravaganza featuring high-octane entertainment such as drag racing, stunt and motocross shows, demo rides, live music, and more at Airdrie Airpark on July 22 to 23.

The physician is retiring after a 35-year career in the medical field - 29 years of which he spent in Airdrie. White cared for his last patients on July 21.

James Jones, a 24-year-old athlete, was awarded Special Olympics Airdrie’s Athlete of the Month during a game of Bocce ball at Nose Creek Regional Park on July 18, where he accepted a certificate to mark his accomplishment.

“These bursaries can make a difference for veteran’s families and offer these children an opportunity to further their educational goals,” the statement continued. 

“It's that sense of community you have, friends to ride with, places to ride to, all those explorations that you get to do on your motorcycle – that sense of ‘United We Ride.’” 

Teacher by day, country music star by night - Airdrie elementary school teacher Brandon Lorenzo performed 20 shows at the Calgary Stampede these past two weeks, averaging about three or four shows a day.
