2021 Airdrie City Council Election Coverage

Heather Spearman will be the sole new face on Airdrie City council for the upcoming term, after finishing in fifth place among a group of 18 council candidates in the Oct. 18 municipal election.

Votes have been tallied for the Oct. 18 municipal election, and Airdrie’s current mayor Peter Brown is headed for a fourth term in office.

With the polls officially closed, initial vote tallies are showing five out of of the six elected current councillors will return for another term, while Heather Spearman has secured the last seat.

In the lead-up to the municipal election on Oct. 18, the Airdrie City View editorial team will be asking a weekly question to a group of seven City council candidates.

The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce hosted a virtual all-candidates forum on Oct. 5, providing an online stage for the candidates in the upcoming municipal election to inform voters of their platforms and answer a few questions.
