Perry’s nomination was formally announced at the school division’s board of trustees meeting on March 2.

Bert Church High School’s band students will be getting a taste of the big leagues when they get an opportunity to share the stage with about a dozen members of the Calgary Philharmonic Orchestra in Airdrie on March 15.

“Construction of a French-language high school in Airdrie was the first priority of our school board’s capital plan,” Bergeron said. “We are pleased that the Government of Alberta today recognizes the need to provide our students in grades 7 to 12 with a true high school tailored to their needs.” 

“There’s a lot of richness that comes with being able to speak and celebrate and share [in French culture]," Hooper shared.

“I feel like being elected is just a stepping stone to other people being elected as well in terms of more minorities or people that are gender diverse,” she said. “That’s what it means to me... giving more people the chance to have their voices heard.” 

After their dominant regular season, the Airdrie Xtreme U15 AAA boys' hockey team is kicking off the Alberta Elite Hockey League (AEHL) playoffs with a best-of-three series against the Calgary Royals this Thursday. 

For more than two decades, Brenda Hume has been on the front lines helping women, seniors and families find the supports they need in the Airdrie and north Rocky View County region.

Priest, 18, earned a fourth-place finish in the women's individual compound division, as well as a gold medal in the mixed-teams event, alongside her Alberta teammate Adam Berge, of Sturgeon County.

The suspect is described as having a light complexion, approximately 5'9" tall, had grey stubble on his face, and has an average build.

“We’re very excited,” Taylor said. “It’s been three years since we’ve been able to hold it, so we’re really looking forward to bringing our community together to raise funds for the food bank."
