Rocky View County (RVC) council approved a redesignation at a regular meeting Sept. 10 that, according to planner Xin Deng, will facilitate an agricultural business on 10 acres east of Beiseker. The redesignation will result in a 145.38-acre remainder.
“The applicant [Richardson International Limited] indicated they have a similar agriculture business in the village of Beiseker,” Deng said. “As the business grows, they’re looking for a bigger lot to accommodate new business.”
The proposed development would include three components, said Karl Carnegie, on behalf of Richardson International – a large dry fertilizer blending system, a 6,000 square foot liquid chemical storage shed and an office building.
Council approved the application unanimously.
“It is nice to see agriculture business coming in here,” Reeve Greg Boehlke said. “It’s a strong part of the economic outlook and forecast for the region.”
