A partial eclipse will dim Airdrie's skies April 8.
People in much of Alberta will be treated to a partial solar eclipse when the moon passes in front of the sun for a few hours next month.

In Airdrie, the partial eclipse starts at 11:49 a.m., reaches its maximum at 12:43 p.m. and finishes at 1:41 p.m.
The duration and coverage of the eclipse varies, depending on location, CSA said.
On Monday, April 8, a solar eclipse will plunge parts of Eastern Canada into darkness for a few minutes and areas further away will experience a partial eclipse, the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) said.
The solar eclipse will make its way across Mexico, the U.S. and Canada April 8, but if you want to see the full eclipse you will have to travel to Eastern Canada. The total eclipse in Canada will begin in Hamilton, Ontario at 3:18 p.m. Eastern Time and end in Gander, Newfoundland at 5:12 p.m. NT. It will be the first time in 50 years that a solar eclipse occurs in 50 years.
The agency said proper eye protection with a solar filter is required to prevent eye damage when watching a partial solar eclipse and regular sunglasses do not provide enough protection.
