Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we’re full-on into doubling our collection from 80,000 to 160,000 for the move into a much larger facility.

As you can see when you drive by the site, construction of the new library is forging ahead with the opening set for September 2025.

To support our efforts in doubling the number of resources available to our community the library launched a Tiny Art Show and Gala Fundraiser in March with a call-out to the public for art.

Since then, we’ve supplied 296 4x4 inch canvasses to everyone from established artists, dabblers, parents, teens, and even a five-year-old.

Artwork must be returned to the library by May 4 for the gala and silent auction event on May 11 at the library.

We’ve already received close to fifty amazing pieces of artwork.

The art is on display in the library and are also posted to our auction website.

As others trickle in, they’ll be added to the online site as well.

The silent auction is in two parts.

Online bidding is already underway with an opening bid of $10 for each piece.

Participants can place a bid and have fun bidding against each other.

The online portion closes at 4:30 p.m. on May 11, and the bids from that will be the starting amount on each piece for the gala event auction.

The gala and silent auction begins at 6:30 p.m., when the library transforms into an art-house, with food, refreshments, and the guitar stylings of musician Phil Hoffman.

If you can’t make the gala, make sure your online bid is high enough to secure the artwork you want.
