There’s been a shuffle in staff at Rocky View Schools (RVS).

On May 22, trustees announced that Susan Williams, current associate superintendent of human resources, will take over as acting superintendent of schools.

Williams will temporarily replace superintendent Greg Bass, who is leaving RVS May 31 to become the deputy minister of Alberta Education.

“I am very pleased that Susan has agreed to take on the challenges that this position will demand,” said Bruce Pettigrew, board chair.

“I know her track record of being a conscientious, collaborative and trustworthy leader will serve our jurisdiction well.”

Williams has more than 24 years of experience as a system and school administrator in Alberta. Prior to moving into the role of associate superintendent in 2007, Williams served as an administrator, special education teacher and regular classroom teacher for the Canadian Rockies Division.

She has a master of education in educational leadership from the University of Victoria and a bachelor of education in special education from the University of Lethbridge.

Pettigrew said the board hopes to find a permanent superintendent in the 2013/14 school year.

While Williams takes over as acting superintendent, RVS’ director of human resources, Pat Worthington, will move into the role of acting associate superintendent of human resources.

Worthington started with RVS in 1984 having been a teacher, vice principal, assistant principal and principal.

He has a masters in education, majoring in comparative education and educational leadership, and a bachelor of education, both from the University of Calgary.

Nancy Adams will take on the acting director of Human Resources role.

She retired as principal of Bert Church High School in 2011, having served as a school administrator since 1987. Adams holds a masters of arts from the University of Calgary and two bachelor degrees, one in education, the other in arts, both from Mount Allison University.

All three will begin their acting roles June 1.
