Suspects sought in Shoppers Drug Mart theft

Multiple bottles of perfume were stolen from Shoppers Drug Mart on Market Street in Airdrie Nov. 9 and 10.

Airdrie RCMP Constable Jennifer Weedmark said a man and woman were captured on video surveillance allegedly stealing more than $1,200 in perfume over the two days.

The male suspect is described as Caucasian with a moustache and beard and appeared to be in his early 20s. He was wearing a beige hat with a black zip-up sweater underneath a lime green and white snowboarding jacket, as well as blue jeans and white shoes.

The female suspect is described as native with dark hair, approximately 200 pounds and appeared to be in her mid-20s. She was wearing a grey hooded sweater with white and blue writing on it and was carrying a black purse.

Meanwhile, suspects have been identified in a recent fire extinguisher theft from Genesis Place Recreation Centre.

According to Weedmark, four young men were captured on video surveillance removing the extinguisher from its casing and putting it in a backpack at approximately 1:30 p.m. Oct. 17. She said the extinguisher was also used to cause damage to the property.

Man arrested

A 29-year-old man from Ponoka was arrested and charged after allegedly stealing a ring from a jewelry store in CrossIron Mills mall near Balzac Nov. 3.

According to Weedmark, Airdrie Rural RCMP officers arrested the man at a nearby gas station shortly after he fled the mall at approximately 3:30 p.m.

The man – identified as Ryan Babcock – was also connected to an Audi A4 that had been stolen out of the Edmonton area. He was charged with theft and possession of stolen property.

Weedmark said he also had arrest warrants out of Edmonton for possession of a dangerous weapon.
