At a regular meeting March 16, Airdrie City council unanimously approved a bylaw to authorize the preparation of supplemental assessments on properties within the municipality that have seen new buildings completed or are occupied or moved into during the course of the year.
“Supplementary assessments allow for fairness and equity among property owners and recognizes that these new properties use City amenities and services, just like existing properties,” said assessor Val Cottreau. “These properties should, therefore, participate in funding amenities and services on a prorated basis.”
According to administration’s report, the supplementary assessments are expected to bring in a budgeted revenue of $400,000 in 2020.
