Rocky View County residents can have their say about the federal government’s 2013 budget.

Member of Parliament Blake Richards will hold four pre-budget consultation meetings across the Wild Rose riding starting Jan. 9.

“Gathering input from constituents is one of my top priorities,” said Richards, adding he has held similar meetings each year since he was elected in 2008.

“Over the past four years, I have found that the best suggestions for the federal budget come directly from constituents,” he said.

“I’m also proud to report that the majority of the priorities set by Wild Rose constituents have been included in the federal budget.”

Last year, five recommendations from Wild Rose were included in the 2012 Economic Action Plan: the one-project, one-review approach for natural resource developments; employment insurance reform; improvements to the Temporary Foreign Worker Program to address skilled labour shortages in Alberta; focusing future agriculture funding on research and downsizing the public service through attrition.

This year’s meetings will be held in Olds and Canmore on Jan. 9 and 10 respectively and in Airdrie in the Rotary Room at Genesis Place on Jan. 9 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. Cochrane and area residents can take part in a meeting on Jan. 10 from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Legion, at 114-5 Ave. W.
