Cochrane RCMP is seeking assistance from the public in determining the identity of human remains found in Cochrane nearly a year ago.
On Oct. 13, 2012, Cochrane RCMP responded to a call at a rural property outside of town where human remains were found. The remains were investigated by the RCMP Major Crime Unit as well as the Calgary Forensic Identification Section before being sent to the Alberta Medical Examiner where they were officially confirmed to be human in origin.
At the time, no definitive timeline was set for identifying the remains, but Calgary Medical Examiners were able to determine that they belonged to a Caucasian male between the ages of 20 to 60.
The remains had been decomposing for less than a year prior to being discovered in October.
It was found that the individual had once suffered a broken nose that had healed.
Cochrane RCMP have released a facial approximation of the individual’s face.
Anyone with information about the remains is being asked to contact the RCMP tip line at 403-699-2709 or email: [email protected]
