The arrest of a 56-year-old Calgary man on possession of stolen property charges Aug. 4 has Airdrie Rural RCMP looking for the rightful owners of numerous tools, including grinders, drills, socket and ratchet sets and a lever block, as well as car batteries.
Ralph Huizinga was charged after RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 567 east of Airdrie in the early morning hours, according to Airdrie RCMP Constable Curtis Peters.
“An officer on patrol, who was being extra observant, happened to see the license plate and decided to pull (the vehicle) over,” Peters said.
Peters said the RCMP member ran the plate and determined the vehicle was originally stolen from Calgary. Peters did not know when the vehicle was stolen.
Huizinga has also been charged with nine counts of failing to comply with conditions and various Alberta Traffic Safety Act offenses.
Peters said anyone who believes the recovered property may belong to them is asked to call Constable Sylvain Nicolas at 403-945-7200 and reference file number 2016-1012121. Peters said proof of ownership – a photo, description or invoice – will be required.
Lottery tickets stolen
Airdrie RCMP is investigating the theft of $65 worth of lottery tickets Aug. 5 from the Rexall Drugs store on Stonegate Drive.
According to Peters, the theft occurred at approximately 4:20 p.m. while the clerk was helping another customer, and was reported to RCMP later that day.
The suspect was caught on video surveillance.
He is described as Caucasian, approximately 25 to 30 years of age. He was wearing a black Under Armour brand shirt with white pants. He had a pair of sunglasses on top of his head and a gold watch around his left wrist.
Peters said RCMP is hoping someone will recognize the description of the man and come forward.
