Police Notebook: Teen seriously injured in collision on Highway 791

A teen girl was taken to Foothills Hospital in potentially life-threatening condition after a head-on collision near Chestermere, March 26. At around 8:30 a.m., RCMP and other emergency personnel attended the accident on Highway 791.

At around 8:30 a.m., RCMP and other emergency personnel attended the accident on Highway 791. A pick-up truck and smaller car crashed head-on.

The female driver, the lone occupant of the car, sustained serious injuries and was extricated from the vehicle by fire crews.

STARS Air Ambulance was called to take the girl to a Calgary hospital.

The driver and lone occupant of the truck was not injured.

March 1 between the hours of 4 p.m. and 7 p.m., a silver truck with a black stripe struck an 18-year-old man.

The collision took place on or near Chiniki Lake Road on the Morley First Nations Reserve. Statements taken from the victim and witness said the truck turned around and returned to the collision location. After the incident, the individual who was hit and a friend hid in an adjacent wooded area.

On March 20 at about 10:20 p.m., the Strathmore RCMP responded to a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 24 and Glenmore Trail. It was reported that a large dump truck with a trailer hit a Toyota Rav 4, causing extensive damage to the passenger side.

The dump truck and the Toyota Rav 4 were both travelling southbound on Highway 24. The dump truck slowed down and the SUV attempted a legal pass of the dump truck that started to turn eastbound onto Glenmore Trail.

The dump truck collided with the Toyota Rav 4ís passenger side. The dump truck left the scene of the collision driving east on Glenmore Trail without exchanging information with the driver of the Rav 4.
