A home invasion in the King’s Heights neighbourhood on Sept. 26 is “alarming”, according to Airdrie RCMP Media Liaison Constable Jason Curtis.
“It’s an alarming amount of violence,” he said. “We don’t see violence like that here in Airdrie. Airdrie is a safe community so it’s definitely very concerning when something like that happens.”
A man was alone in the home when he answered the door at approximately 8:40 p.m. and two men forced their way into the residence.
“Two males entered (the home), one with a firearm and one with a drywall saw,” Curtis said. “He was able to free himself and run away.”
The suspects then fled the home, according to Curtis.
“The homeowner did sustain injuries. (He) did require medical attention,” he said.
RCMP Police Dog Services attended and were able to track the scent to the Market Street commercial site but Curtis said investigators believe the suspects then got into a vehicle and got away.
Curtis said RCMP is not disclosing the types of items stolen from the home due to the ongoing investigation.
The victim was able to recall details about only one of the suspects, according to Curtis, and a police artist was called to complete a composite sketch, which police have now released in the hope someone will be recognize the suspect.
