The theft of a boat and trailer in Olds quickly turned into a high-speed chase through Rocky View county, July 31.

At 7:26 p.m., Olds RCMP were dispatched to the scene of a robbery in progress at a local storage facility in the town.

Two men stole a brown Dodge Caravan towing a boat. The RCMP tried to stop the pair but were unsuccessful.

Two hours later, Olds RCMP spotted the men, this time heading south on Highway 2 toward Airdrie.

Exiting west on Veterans Boulevard, RCMP lost sight of the suspects.

Airdrie RCMP found the vehicle after it crashed into a fence at Bayside Boulevard and Eighth Street.

The boat and accompanying trailer, were not attached to the van.

One suspect took off on foot but was tracked down and arrested by local RCMP.

The second suspect ran to a residence and asked the occupants to call him a taxi.

They became suspicious of the man and called the RCMP, who later arrested the man without incident.

The boat and trailer, valued at $15,000, were recovered in Woodside with minor damage.

Keith Conway of Calgary, 42, and Eric Miller of Morley, 39, have been charged with nine offences between them including possession of stolen property over $5,000.
