Airdrie RCMP is looking for a man responsible for a theft at the Super 8 Hotel on East Lake Boulevard on Jan. 28, according to Media Liaison Constable Francine Hennelly.
“The front desk was unmanned and this gentleman went behind the counter and was able to steal $170 from the till,” she said.
“He’s a Caucasian male, approximately 5’8” in height. He has a lean build and was wearing a grey anorak – which looks to be quite large for his body – black jeans and a black ball cap.”
The man was caught in the act on video surveillance, which the hotel handed over to RCMP.
Rural Theft
A man from Calgary checking on items stored at a rural property on Range Road 22 northwest of Airdrie on Jan. 31 discovered a pair of trailers and recreation vehicles had been stolen, according to Hennelly.
“He believes it was stolen within the week prior to him attending that yard,” she said. “They did not have to break into the yard. All they had to do was cut the locks on the hitch in order to gain access to those trailers.”
The stolen items are a red and black 2003 Polaris 800 Mountain Extreme snowmobile, a 2015 aluminum tilt-deck trailer, a red 2015 Polaris 570 side-by-side and a 2007 14-foot black flat-deck trailer.
According to Hennelly, the value of the stolen items is in excess of $5,000.
Crossfield Mischief
Airdrie Rural RCMP was called to the Esso gas station in Crossfield at approximately 3:48 a.m. on Jan. 30, according to Hennelly, after a number of male suspects broke into the business, damaging the front door and then attempted to get into the ATM machine.
“They successfully broke into the business and were attempting to get access to the ATM. However, they were not successful so they left the business and fled in their vehicle,” she said. “We were immediately notified of the break in by an employee. Because they got away with nothing it’s considered mischief.”
The vehicle the men fled in is described as a silver four-door pickup truck.
Cigarettes Stolen
An male suspect robbed an Airdrie convenience store Jan. 31.
“At approximately 10 a.m., an unknown male walked into the 7-Eleven on Luxstone (Boulevard) and took some tobacco products out of the store without paying for them,” Airdrie RCMP Constable Meagan Fillion said. “The value is about $80.”
RCMP describes the man as Caucasian, approximately 30-years-old with a heavier build and a trimmed beard. He was wearing a red ball cap, black sunglasses, a red zip-up sweater and a red shirt with the words Big Red Machine and the number 81 on it.
“He was just standing in front of the counter,” Fillion said. “I don’t know if any words were exchanged (with the clerk) or how he got the product. We’re looking for the public’s help in identifying that unknown male.”
