A 34-year-old man from Calgary was hospitalized after sustaining injuries in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Sept. 13 on Highway 2 near Airdrie.
The collision happened in the northbound lanes of Highway 2, about one kilometre south of the Yankee Valley Blvd. overpass at around 7 a.m.
According to Airdrie Integrated Traffic Unit (ITU) members, it appears as though a green 2000 Chevrolet S-10 truck, driven by a 34-year-old man from Calgary, was travelling northbound in the right lane and slowed down because of traffic congestion. The truck was then struck from behind by a green 2002 Chevrolet Malibu.
The driver and lone occupant of the Malibu was a 19-year-old man from Airdrie.
He was uninjured in the accident and was subsequently charged with careless driving under the Traffic Safety Act.
Church broken into
Airdrie RCMP is seeking the assistance of the public in identifying the person or people responsible for a break in at the Airdrie Victory Church at 308 1 Ave.
The break-in occurred sometime overnight between Aug. 24 and Aug. 25 when a unknown suspect broke in and stole a petty cash box with an undisclosed amount of money inside, a guitar and gift certificates that were for charity.
Victory Church Pastor Nick Williams says that damage was minimal to the church itself.
ìWhoever broke in didnít actually break anything, they had unscrewed a window and got in that way,î said Williams. ìNothing in the church was broken and aside from a small mess that was left, we didnít even realize there was a break in until someone discovered the cash box was missing.î
