Beiseker project on trackg

Mayor Courtman told council an agreement had been made with Metro Pavement on the Grassland subdivision project.

Mayor Courtman told council an agreement had been made with Metro Pavement on the Grassland subdivision project.

The project, which sat unfinished after Copperwood Development abandoned the site about three years ago, will now be moving ahead once again.

“It looks like this year we’re going to have houses being built in Grasslands,” Courtman said. “Fingers crossed.”

Council reports

The Village is on par with Drumheller’s recycling numbers, reported Councillor Walters. He noted the 30 metric tons of paper recycling hauled from the village last year was more than the 29 metric tons hauled from Drumheller. Cardboard recycling numbers were also good for the village but below Drumheller’s with the village depot reporting 24 metric tons compared to Drumhellers 97 metric tons.

Councillor Warren Wise reported a copy of the blueprint drawings for the pump house reservoir had been located at Stantec, a civil engineering company in Calgary, after a month of searching. Wise motioned for electronic versions of the drawings be obtained from Stantec for a flat rate fee of $250. The motion was carried unanimously.

“I think they are vital to have and I wish we could have these for every drawing,” Wise said.

Bylaws

Council passed bylaw 2013-01 which allows the Village to obtain a $28,000 loan in order to purchase a new skid steer.

The skid steer is a workhorse of the village doing everything from snow removal to drilling postholes, Lambert said.

The new machine will replace the old skid steer, which is beyond repair.

The bylaw was carried unanimously.
