On Aug. 26 at approximately 1 a.m., suspects attempted to steal a 1977 Canaventure power boat and trailer from the Silver Creek.
Homeowners were awoken by a loud bang coming from their driveway. It’s unclear if suspects were on foot or in a vehicle. The would-be thieves were unsuccessful, and both the boat and trailer were left on the road in front of the residence. The boat and another vehicle suffered damage, according to RCMP.
With several reports of stolen boats and trailers this summer, police would once again encourage people to follow safety precautions to:
• Attach trailer hitch locks on any unattended trailers
• Park trailers with a vehicle in front of them
• Park trailers in well lit areas
• Park trailers in secure places like fenced backyards or storage lots
• If the trailer will be parked for an extended period of time, lock the tires or place the trailer on blocks or install a parking boot
Stolen vehicle burned out
At 5:53 a.m. on Aug. 24, Airdrie RCMP attended a vehicle fire at Range Road 274 and Township Road 260.
Fire crews from Chestermere and Balzac were dispatched and were able to contain the blaze.
The vehicle, a 1999 Ford Mustang, was completely destroyed.
No injuries were reported from the fire.
Initial reports have revealed the car was parked at a mechanic’s shop in Linden and stolen sometime that evening. Police continue to investigate.
