Rotary Club of Airdrie celebrates 40 years of community service and fundraising

The Airdrie club branch has been actively involved in supporting local and international causes through events like its annual golf tournament and well-known lobster boil, raising funds for organizations including the BGC Airdrie Club and the Airdrie Food Bank, among many others.

The Rotary Club of Airdrie, a diverse group of community-minded professionals, commemorated its 40th anniversary this week.

The Airdrie club branch has been actively involved in supporting local and international causes through events like its annual golf tournament and well-known lobster boil, raising funds for organizations including the BGC Airdrie Club and the Airdrie Food Bank, among many others.

President Scott Bell expressed the club's commitment to their community, noting the challenges faced due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite a decrease in membership in the last few years, Bell emphasized the local rotary club's continued involvement and active presence in the community through various fundraisers.

“We tend to get involved with a lot of things locally, but we have also done a lot of work internationally with water wells and cancer clinics in different countries like Ethiopia,” Bell said.

In honour of their milestone anniversary, the Rotary Club hosted a celebration on June 27 at Brella Vida in Airdrie.

As the club celebrates 40 years of service, they remain committed to their mission of making a positive difference in Airdrie and beyond. The anniversary celebration not only honoured their accomplishments, but also served as an opportunity to inspire others to join the cause.

“The Rotary Club of Airdrie aims to create a lasting impact and inspire community engagement,” Bell said.

Their dedication to community service and commitment to helping others serve as a testament to the power of a united group of individuals.

Despite the challenges faced during the pandemic and the decrease in membership, the Rotary Club of Airdrie continues to demonstrate their dedication to their community and their global initiatives. Through their ongoing fundraisers and support, they strive to uplift organizations and make a positive impact on society.

With the recent lobster boil taking place a few weeks ago, Bell emphasized the importance of such fundraising events to further support projects in the community.

“Our lobster boil was a very successful event, we raised over $30,000,” said Bell.

According to Bell, the Rotary Club of Airdrie is dedicated to maintaining their strong commitment to the future. They aim to inspire others to join them in their mission of collaborating to make the world a better place, both in their local community and globally.

With 40 years of service behind them, the Rotary Club of Airdrie stands as an example of the impact that can be achieved when individuals come together with a shared vision of service and community engagement.
