Nose Creek Valley Museum hosting car boot sale on July 22

From trinkets to treasures, thing-a-ma-jigs to thing-a-ma-bobs, and what-have-yous to whatcha-ma-calls-its, Harvey said anyone coming out is sure to find something useful or interesting at Saturday's car boot sale.

The Nose Creek Valley Museum is hosting its second car boot sale of the season on July 22.

The Nose Creek Valley Museum is all set to give Airdronians the boot on July 22.

The museum will be hosting its second “car boot sale” of the summer on that day. The popular annual flea market is held three times throughout the summer months, and, according to Nose Creek Valley Museum executive director and curator Laurie Harvey, brings Airdronians of all walks of life together to have some fun, make a bit of money, and to raise public awareness of Airdrie's local museum.

“We wanted to get the museum out to the community a little more,” she said, explaining the origin of the car boot sale event, which celebrated its inaugural season last summer. “We thought, 'What better way to introduce the museum to the community?'

“We have had a lot of people move in (to Airdrie). The car boot sale is where we rent people a place in our parking lot, and they can bring their vehicles in and sell their things out of the back of those vehicles.”

From trinkets to treasures, thing-a-ma-jigs to thing-a-ma-bobs, and what-have-yous to whatcha-ma-calls-its, Harvey said anyone coming out is sure to find something useful or interesting at the car boot sale.

“Flea markets are fun because you never know what you are going to find,” she explained. “It’s fun. Everybody is nice and friendly, and they are here to have a good time and make a little money.”

As part of the general festivities for the event, the Airdrie Festival of Lights will also be hosting a barbecue luncheon and the Nose Creek Valley Museum will be open free-of-charge to the public to check out the exhibits.

Those interested in learning more about the museum’s car boot sale or wanting to rent space to sell their wares at the event can email [email protected].

The car boot sale starts at 9 a.m. and goes until 3 p.m. The barbecue starts at 11 a.m.

For those who miss the July 22 sale, they will have one last chance to attend the final car boot sale of the summer season on Aug. 26.

“Maybe you can find some kind of treasure or good deal,” said Harvey.
