Man sent to hospital in critical condition after being hit on Highway 2

A man has been sent to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries after a collision occured in the south bound lane of Highway 2, south of Yankee Valley Blvd. in the early hours of Aug. 21.

A man has been sent to hospital with serious, life threatening injuries after a collision occurred in the south bound lane of Highway 2, south of Yankee Valley Blvd. in the early hours of Aug. 21.

According to an RCMP press release, members of the Airdrie Rural RCMP were dispatched to the scene in response to a report of a male walking in the middle of the road in the southbound lanes of Highway 2, south of Airdrie. 

When police arrived on scene, they determined that the male had been hit by a vehicle. EMS were dispatched and attended to the male before he was transported to hospital. 

An RCMP traffic analyst was also on scene. Southbound lanes on Highway 2 were closed for approximately 5 hours.
