Library Link: Your library on the go

Thanks to our digitalized world, you can be anywhere and still enjoy the benefits of your free library card.

Your Airdrie Public Library card can be used worldwide thanks to the advent of the internet and our ever-connected world.

The library of the 21st century is not the one your grandparents would have walked to after school when they were kids.

No, this one can follow you wherever you go.

If you’re going camping this summer, or doing that long-planned for road trip, or even travelling overseas, your library can come with you.

This is just one of the very cool things about the modern world of libraries, including here at Airdrie Public Library (APL).

Thanks to our digitalized world, you can be anywhere and still enjoy the benefits of your free library card. You can borrow books, movies, music, magazines, newspapers, even comic books without stepping through the physical doors of a library.

We give them the fancy name of eResources, but they give you access to a world of entertainment and literature right there in your digital device – the library in your hand. Whether on a cellphone, a tablet, or a laptop, if you have Internet access, you can log into your APL account from anywhere in the world, and access various digital resources, such as Cloud Library, Libby by Overdrive, Hoopla, Flipster, RB Digital, Read Alberta Books, and PressReader.

Some of these eResources can be accessed through separate free apps (Android or Apple) using your account, but each one provides access to library resources outside of a brick-and-mortar building.

So yes, you could be fighting off mosquitoes in Kananaskis Country or sipping wine at a street café in the Moulin Rouge district of Paris, while watching a movie, or reading a novel, or a magazine, or a newspaper you borrowed minutes ago with your Airdrie Public Library card.

Call it your library on the go.

For more information on APL’s eResources or any of APL’s programs and services, visit airdriepubliclibrary.ca, call 403-948-0600, or drop by the library on Main Street near Airdrie's downtown.
