As 2023 winds down in its usual festive fashion, we here at Airdrie Public Library (APL) are excited about the variety of adult programming coming in Winter 2024.

APL is widely known for its children’s programs, and rightly so, Airdrie’s main demographic is 40 and under, the age group most likely to have preschool and school-aged kids.

However, even those 40 and under might like to get their headspace into some adulting from time to time.

January 24 will see local author Nancy Bell’s book launch of her latest young adult novel, Laurel’s Choice.

Bell will share about her work, and books will be available for sale and to be signed.

Sorry for Your Loss on Jan. 17 is a program that guides participants through a heartfelt approach to writing condolence cards.

The Truth About Credit on Jan. 23, held in partnership with Credit Counselling Society Centre, will lead participants in understanding the myths and facts about credit ratings and credit scores.

February 7 is a Mixed Media Art Night presented by artist Stacey Walyuchow.

Walyuchow will help participants create a mixed media collage art piece that tells a prairie gothic story using provided imagery, paint, and pastels on a 12x16 canvass.

Everything is provided.

Walyuchow and author Wendy McGrath will also present an artist’s talk Feb. 10 on prairie gothic art and literature.

And February being the month of love, we’re also presenting a program called Love to Know You.

Airdrie singles are invited for an evening of play on Feb. 14.

It’s a night of games where you’ll have to be a little playful, sort of like a mixer at a work retreat.

Weight Management: Myths and Truths on Feb. 20 will explore common myths and misconceptions around weight loss.

Finally, APL’s first Adult Spelling Bee is on Feb. 29 To learn more about these and other 2024 APL programs, visit www.airdriepubliclibrary.ca
