Library Link: The magic of summer at Airdrie Public Library

Airdrie Public Library is ready for an August packed full of programming.

“Everything good, everything magical happens between the months of June and August. Winters are simply a time to count the weeks until the next summer." ― Jenny Han, American author.

This quote by Han, the author of the acclaimed The Summer I Turned Pretty trilogy, says it all. Summer is where magical things happen.

Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we see summer as a magical time, too, when the wonderful and magical can happen.

Some of our programs, such as Summer Stories and Summer Story Walk, happen out in the sunshine (hopefully it’s shining) and combine fun in the sun with literacy.

Other programs, such as this year’s TD Summer Reading Club, bring hundreds of children into the magical world of legends and myths from history.

While July might be coming to an end pretty soon, August at APL still has many magical moments of literacy and learning before we take a break to get ready for fall's return.

Look for our first ever Non-Artist Art Night on Aug. 13 for adults who maybe aren’t the most artistic, but still want to create something beautiful.

Summer Movie Night for adults features the 2001 French cult classic Amelie, on Aug. 20.

The popular Senior Coffee and Conversation returns on Aug. 10, at the APL fireplace.

Our teen patrons have several magical moments in store this August, including Teen Movies, Healthy Minds in Harmony with Stepping Stones, and Crush or Gush, where participants freely share their opinions on what they’re reading this summer.

Of course, the magic continues for preschool programs until Aug. 13, with Rhymes and Songs, Monday Movers, Night Owls, Wacky Wednesdays, and Babytime.

Finally, you’ll find our amazing Book Bike at the Airdrie Farmers Market every Wednesday and rolling through Airdrie's parks throughout August. The library-on-wheels allows you to check out or return material and get your free library card.
