Library Link: Programs to live by

The Airdrie Public Library has plenty of programs to keep patrons busy this month
LL-March24
Infant massage workshops are returning to Airdrie Public Library this month.

There’s always a lot going on at Airdrie Public Library (APL), and sometimes it’s hard to keep up with the many programs we use to promote lifelong learning and literacy.

To help, this column will point out a few of these programs.

First off, we invite the public to join us on March 24 for a Zoom presentation from James MacTavish, Senior Advisor, Investor and Industry Educator with the Alberta Securities Commission, as he explains investment scams and how to avoid them.

Those who attended MacTavish’s last presentation in February on DIY Investment Elementals will know how important expert information is.

Next, look for our popular After Dark series for teens on March 26. Participants, ages 12 to 17, will be asked to discover the guilty party by solving clues throughout the library.

Then, on March 29, our always well-attended Infant Massage returns in person at the library. In partnership with Blessingways Family Wellness, participants will learn the loving art of infant massage. Babies who are massaged regularly sleep better, digest their food better, and have improved brain stimulation.

APL also has a variety of in-person programs designed to help with exploring and understanding technology. One-On-One Makerspace is a program supported by TD Bank that offers help with robotics, circuitry, and coding. Running on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 4 p.m. and 4:30 p.m., patrons can book time with our digital literacy facilitator to explore these technologies.

Senior iPad Help is a program aimed at the 55-and-over crowd and offers a one-on-one session to help navigate Apple’s iPad tablet, whether it’s your own, or one you borrowed from the library. This program runs on Fridays at 4 and 5 p.m.

Lastly, APL also has instructional videos on our website that show patrons how to navigate through some our eResources, such as SOLARO, Niche Academy, and Worldbook, and on how to use the TRACPac app.
