Library Link: New Year's resolutions are easier with Airdrie Public Library

Your library’s many eResources can help you keep those New Year’s resolutions.

It’s that make-a-resolution time of the year, at least for those of us who grew up with this anxiety-raising tradition.

First off, a New Year’s resolution simply means a person makes a firm decision to do – or not do – something.

That resolution can be anything, such as quitting smoking, losing weight, or committing yourself to being a more mindful person.

No matter the resolution, it seems they are often destined to fail.

Why?

Well, if there is no action plan, no deadlines, no backup plan, or the resolution is too unrealistic, it’s likely to be doomed before it starts.

Here at Airdrie Public Library (APL), we believe in supporting our patrons with their resolutions in whatever we can.

Your library can provide excellent support for your New Year’s goals through free access to helpful materials, and as such would like to offer a few literacy-based resolution helps for 2022.

Do you want to improve on your technology skills? Your library offers books and articles written by experts who know how to explain the ever-changing digital world.

Or, maybe you’ve resolved to change careers this year? Your library can help with that, too. We have virtual programs offered by local employment agencies as well as reams of online resources for resume writing and job searches.

Most of all, though, what your library can provide in helping you keep that New Year’s resolution is encouragement.

Connecting with your library means you’ll connect with librarians who know how to help you find what you need, and along the way you may even connect with others who are on the same journey, which invites positivity and insight.

Of course, you don’t have to wait until New Year’s to make a change; if you want a change, make it today.

Your library is here to support you however we can.

Happy New Year!
