Food, art and more at the APL in February.

One of the things we here at Airdrie Public Library (APL) enjoy about February, is that it is the border between winter and spring, at least here in southern Alberta.

February is a month of anticipation, of hope for longer and warmer days, and it’s also the final weeks of our winter program session.

So, while we’re looking for spring, let’s have a peek at February programming.

The popular 3D Drawing returns for three sessions starting Feb. 1.

Saturday, Feb. 3 is our Flavours of Home: a potluck gathering, featuring your food, stories and recipes from your family and community traditions.

Join mixed media artist Stacey Walyuchow on Wednesday, Feb. 7 for an evening of creating your own collage using a prairie gothic theme.

Cupcake Wars, tween and teen editions is happening on Friday, Feb. 9 and is all aboput cupcake decorating, not food wars.

This is followed on Saturday, Feb. 10 by a conversation between Walyuchow and writer Wendy McGrath on prairie gothic art and writing.

In partnership with Lords of Logomancy, join us for an evening of painting ferocious orcs or wizards on Feb. 6.

Love to Know You on Feb. 14 is a Valentine Day event where you can allow yourself to be a little playful, meet other Airdrie singles, and just have fun.

APL is joined by a Highland PCN health provider on Tuesday, Feb. 20 where we will have a conversation about weight management, the myths and truths.

February falls on a Leap Year, so the final day of the month wraps up with an Adult Spelling Bee on Thursday, Feb. 29.

This is an opportunity for the word enthusiasts among us, you know who you are, to show up for this laid-back (absolutely no pressure to spell supercalifragilisticexpialidocious) competition.
