Eagles tribute band to perform at Bert Church LIVE Theatre this weekend

“If you’re looking for a night where you can be in a room full of music lovers tapping your feet, enjoying a night out where you have your community around you... it’s a great way to connect with others," she said.

Airdronians who manage to snag a ticket to an upcoming performance at Bert Church LIVE Theatre (BCLT) will get a taste of living life in the fast lane, with an Eagles tribute band coming to town on March. 3

The Long Run: Canada’s Salute to the Eagles features several of Canada’s top touring musicians who will recreate the timeless music of the Eagles – one of the world’s most beloved classic rock bands from the 1960s and ‘70s.

The Long Run will take its audience on a “musical journey” with performances of all the top hits from the Eagles, appealing to audiences of all ages and “touching the heart of all,” according to a promo from BCLT.

“It’s definitely a night to celebrate some of, historically, music’s greatest,” said Beverly Stadelmann, performing arts coordinator with the City of Airdrie. “It’s a really great way for us to spring into Spring and get ready for all the fun we’re gonna have for the rest of 2023.”

Stadelmann said when BCLT was scouring potential acts for its 2022-23 season, the theatre staff kept in mind the lived experiences of its community members.

“When we’re looking for an act, we try to think about our community and what we might be experiencing at any given time,” Stadelmann shared. “Nothing against February, but it can be kind of a tail end of winter and we’re just slogging through.

“[This is] something really fun where you come out and you know what you’re going to experience because you know all of the music.”

She added that for 40 years, the Eagles have been creating and performing hits that appeal to a wide audience, and the tribute show is an opportunity for the younger generations to experience a tribute to one of the world’s best-selling bands.

“There are songs you’re going to recognize…especially if you are a fan of the Eagles or know someone who’s a fan of the Eagles,” she said.

The City coordinator said the show may also appeal to a wider audience, including those who may not be familiar with the band’s many hits.

“I think if you are an Eagles fan and you want someone to become an Eagles fan, it’s a great idea to bring them to a concert,” she confessed.

She added for younger audiences, this could be the only opportunity to see these hits performed live.

“It’s one of the reasons at Bert Church Theatre when we’re looking for tribute bands, we try to think, what’s something that people might not get a chance to [see] in any other way than this way?” Stadelmann said.

“If you’re looking for a night where you can be in a room full of music lovers tapping your feet, enjoying a night out where you have your community around you... it’s a great way to connect with others.

“It’s that feeling we’ve been missing... getting out and seeing people in other situations and it’s a really joyful situation.”

Stadelmann said the show is currently offering limited availability and tickets have been selling fast since they originally went on sale.

“So, if you’re on the fence, you probably want to get off the fence,” she said with a laugh. “I want to make sure anyone who wants to come see it will get a chance, but we only have so many seats.”
