The BGC Airdrie youth club will hold its third annual spring market this weekend, providing shopping opportunities to local residents and to help raise funds and awareness to support its programs for children in the community.

Kathy Ritcher, manager of events and volunteers for BGC Airdrie, said this year’s market will have 24 vendors and will run both Saturday and Sunday between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.

For the first time, the market will also feature different food trucks on site for those looking to whet their appetites as well as open their pocket books to support BGC Airdrie's work in the community.

As Ritcher explains it, the motivation for the market's timing was driven by a few family-centric dates.

“We decided to include a spring market because of the importance of Mother's Day, Father's Day, spring shopping, and getting out and about once the weather gets nice,” she said. “It’s a great way to bring awareness to the club because they come into the central location.”

There is a $2 entry fee to get into the market, which directly supports BGC Airdrie Club’s operating costs. However, children 12 and under get in free.

Ritcher confirmed BGC Airdrie will also have an information booth set up for parents who might be interested in enrolling their kids and teens into the club's regular programming or popular summer camps.

“They get to see the surroundings, and can ask questions,” she said. “We usually hand out pamphlets to those who are interested in the programming we have. And, of course, we run summer programs as well. We promote those too.”

Ritcher hopes many will come out to BGC Airdrie Club’s Spring Market and show their support for the organization.

“It just brings awareness to the club and it shows community support by those attending and participating in the event,” she confirmed. “It helps us build great relationships out in the community. So come on out and have a great time, and do a little shopping for yourself or those in your family.”

The BGC Airdrie Spring Market will take place at the club's headquarters at the Ron Ebbesen Arena, located at 200 East Lake Crescent. For more information on the event, visit “Spring Market– BGC Airdrie Club” on Facebook.
