The Airdrie Public Library (APL) in partnership with the Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Airdrie will be commemorating Islamic Heritage Month with an “Ask an Imam” outreach event on October 8.

October has been declared as Islamic Heritage month by the government of Canada in order to encourage, reflect, celebrate, learn about and appreciate the diversity of Muslim communities.

“Ask An Imam” will feature Imam Salman Yousaf answering any questions members of the public may have about the Muslim faith and the Muslim faith community in Airdrie. He has a background in comparative studies of religion and presently serves as a missionary with the  Ahmadiyya Muslim Community of Airdrie. He will be available to chat at the library on Sunday from 2 to 3 p.m.

Also in conjunction with Islamic Heritage Month, the Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Airdrie will be hosting a display at the APL from October 3 to October 10 to raise awareness of the month-long celebration of Canada’s Muslim community.

The Ahmadiyya Muslim Association of Airdrie will further be hosting a drive this month for the Airdrie food bank to help collect food to help Airdrie’s most needy community members.

Those interested in donating food can email [email protected].
