Access Child and Youth Development will be holding its Halloween Costume Swap at Glitch Gaming Lounge in Airdrie on Saturday.

Proceeds from the event will help raise funds for the Access Youth Leadership Program and Humanitarian Trip.

Access is a non-profit organization founded in Airdrie earlier this year to encourage youth in the community to reach out to those in need of support to foster leadership skills and compassion.

Access also pays for psycho-educational evaluations for families who can’t afford them for the children. Additionally, the organization hosts the Access Summer Camp, which provides an affordable summer program option for kids.

While busy in their outreach work within the community for much of the past year, the 10 participants of Access Youth Leadership Program (all ages 15-19 years) are trying to raise funds to travel to Jamaica to use their leadership skills by volunteering within vulnerable populations in Montego Bay.

Over the past month, the program participants have been accepting Halloween costumes from members in the community who would like to swap out their old costumes for new ones. The swap allows families to come into Glitch Gaming Lounge with a ticket given out for an old costume and exchange it for a new one at no charge if their kids have outgrown their previous costumes, or are just looking for something different without having to buy new.

The event will also feature various other kid-friendly activities with donations accepted to help the Access Youth Leadership Program and Humanitarian Trip.

The Halloween Swap starts at 1 p.m. and ends at 4 p.m.
