UPDATE: Collision scene cleared after collision near Acme, three taken to hospital

Beiseker RCMP and partners have cleared the collision scene on Highway 575.

"RCMP can report that three people were taken to various hospitals via ground ambulance with what is believed to be minor injuries," stated the detachment in an afternoon update. "At this time, it is believed the collision occurred because of poor visibility due to fog, as well as icy roads."

According to that update, no further updates are anticipated.

ORIGINAL STORY:

RCMP crews from Beiseker, Three Hills, and Drumheller are currently responding to a train collision involving three vehicles earlier this morning on Highway 575 between Range Road 243 and 242. The intersections are located east of Acme and south of Swalwell. 

"Fire and EMS are on scene," stated an email from Alberta RCMP, distributed after 10 a.m. "The train has stopped and is also interfering with the crossing at Township Road 300 and Range Road 243.

Injuries are unknown at this time, and RCMP caution motorists to avoid the area.

"An update will be sent when more information becomes available," the email concluded.
