Beiseker Lions Club celebrates 77 years of community service

The Beiseker Lions Club recently celebrated its 77th anniversary with a celebration at the Beiseker Community Centre on Nov. 19.
 
According to Beiseker resident Jeannette Richter, the hall was filled to capacity with neighbouring Lions clubs, local dignitaries, and Beiseker residents who have enjoyed the plethora of events hosted by the organization over the years.
 
"The Beiseker community have enjoyed fun events and the support the Beiseker Lions Club renders to the community," Richter said in an email statement. "The Beiseker Lions Club have been very important to our community and I ... want to say thanks to them."
 
In attendance at the event were Donald Schissel, president of Beiseker Lions Club; Nathan Cooper, speaker of the house and MLA for Olds-Didsbury-Three Hills; and Martin Shields, MP for Bow River.
 
Also in attendance was past international Lions Club president, Judge Brian Stevenson, who was a special guest speaker at the anniversary event.
 
According to the Beiseker Lion's Club website, the Lions Club meets the needs of its community and the world each day. The club's core belief is to serve its community.
 
The Lions Club International is the world's largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs across 206 countries.
 
"Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve," read a statement on the website. "Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities."
