Rocky View County lifts fire ban

Following the recent snowfall, Rocky View County (RVC) Fire Services has lifted its fire ban.

Following the recent snowfall, Rocky View County (RVC) Fire Services has lifted its fire ban.

"Effective immediately, there are no fire advisories or bans in the county, and permit burning is allowed," the County stated in a safe and sound message.

The ban was implemented April 1, the day RVC firefighters responded to separate large grassfires west of Cochrane and in northwest Calgary. The lifting of the ban also comes after RVC Fire Services contended with a barn fire that turned into a grassfire in Balzac, near CrossIron Mills mall, that

While the ban has been lifted, in its safe and sound message, RVC asked residents to always follow safe burning practices, and reminded that fire advisories may still be in place in neighbouring communities.
