Irricana Fire Station celebrates 30 years of operations

The Irricana Fire Station celebrated 30 years of operations with an open house event on July 1.

The Irricana Fire Station celebrated 30 years of operations with an open house event on July 1.

The Canada Day-coinciding event featured a special ribbon-cutting ceremony to honour members of the local fire service, both past and present.

“As a member of Rocky View County Fire Services – Irricana Station 108 – it was my honour to take part in the ribbon-cutting for the Town of Irricana’s tribute to the firefighters of the past, present and the future,” said Irricana Fire Chief Thomas Blasetti in a statement released to local media. “It is fitting to have done this on the 30th anniversary of the Irricana Fire Station opening its doors July 1, 1993.”

Blasetti went on to thank sponsors of the special event and praise the dedication of the fire crews who have staffed the fire station house over the last three decades.

“The Irricana Fire Station has been staffed by volunteers, now paid per call members since inception,” he said. “This year has been a busy year for our members, [who have answered] 93 calls for service to date, along with being present at many community events such as car shows in town, and the Annual Pioneer Acres Reunion and Show for first aid coverage.”

Irricana's municipal government also released a statement thanking its local firefighters for their dedication to keeping community members safe.

“The Town of Irricana expresses our heartfelt gratitude and extend a warm thank you for 30 remarkable years of unwavering service,” the statement reads. “Your commitment to protecting our community and ensuring our safety has been an invaluable asset.”

The Town also acknowledged the personal sacrifices and hard work local firefighters undertake when they answer the call of duty.

“Throughout all the calls, you have displayed extraordinary bravery, professionalism, and selflessness,” it goes on to say. “Your relentless dedication, combined with your extensive training and sacrifices, has instilled a profound sense of security within us all. Your impact on our Town is immeasurable, and we cannot adequately express our appreciation for your exceptional service.

“Way to go Station 108!!”
