A boil water advisory is in effect for Crossfield. According to a notice on the Town's website, the advisory was issued at 1:30 p.m. April 22.
"This advisory is being issued as a precautionary measure until the safety of the water can be assured," the notice stated.
According to a statement by Alberta Health Services, the town's waterworks system – with the exception of the industrial area at the south end – depressurized earlier in the day for approximately 10 minutes, putting the safety of the water supply at risk. Approximately 50 complaints of discoloration or no water were received.
According to the Town, water should be brought to a rolling boil for at least one minute prior to being used for domestic purposes including drinking, brushing teeth, washing raw food, making ice and making juice or baby formula.
