Charity lamb proceeds to support Ronald McDonald House

The Irricana Beef & Multi 4-H Club is auctioning off its charity lamb May 28 to 31, with proceeds from the animal's sale supporting Ronald McDonald House Calgary.

This year, the lamb – donated by Wheatland Equestrian Centre – was raised by the three sisters – 13-year-old Dakota, 11-year-old Payton and 10-year-old Breeana Rempfer . Acdording to Dakota, who is the 4-H club's president, the sisters named him McFlurry.

“We three girls feed, water and groom him daily,” she said. “We change out his bedding, take him on walks and just hang out with him. He is a very curious lamb and is always first to the gate to greet you.”

The club has also received support from Oxbar Farms and Irvine Tack & Trailer, which supplied feed for McFlurry.

Dakota said the sisters estimate McFlurry, who is a purebread Suffolk lamb, will weigh approximately 122 pounds by sale day, which would yield roughly 50 pounds of lamb meat.

“Our club chose the Ronald McDonald house because it means a lot to us all to help the families when they need it the most,” she said.

McFlurry will be auctioned off online at 32auctions.com. The sisters hope to raise at least $1,000 to donate to the Ronald McDonald House.
