On Nov. 17 and 18 the Balzac Christmas Market will be returning for another year of festive fun that will allow for over 70 local vendors to display and sell their handmade, artisan, and hand-crafted items.

As a long standing community event that has operated for 25 years, the Balzac Christmas Market will feature vendors with locally made products like Christmas decor, woodworking, adult and children's apparel, art, baking, knitting, jewellery, pet products, and much more.

“The market is expecting excellent turnout this year,” said Jodanna Frebrowski, who has been the sole organizer of the market since 2017. “Every year it welcomes more and more shoppers which is something the vendors and myself always look forward to. The more the merrier!”

As testament to the community's support of the market, Frewbrowski said that the positive reception to the Christmas market has allowed it to grow into its current location.

This year’s market location, Gym 4031, adjacent to St. Mina Coptic Church, one kilometre east of the CrossIron Costco, is a large enough space to accommodate what the market is confident will be a huge crowd. Enough vendors will pack the space to allow something for everyone, even “four legged furry family friends.”

“The vendors attending the market are fantastic and have unique and beautiful products,” said Frebrowski. Many of the vendors attending started their own business out of their home and do not have a storefront location.”

A lot of the vendors are still working to get their products online for shoppers to buy, but the market hopes to act as a stand-in storefront for many of the vendors.

“Attending the market is their storefront exposure,” said Frebrowski. “Shopping at the market is shopping local and supporting the local community.”

The market will run Nov. 17 from 4 pm to 8 pm and on Nov. 18 from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission is free and so is the parking.
