Bragg Creek Performing Arts is presenting ZENON+ for what they’re calling “a sweet evening of R&B peppered with Jazz” on Saturday, February 10 at the Bragg Creek Snowbirds Chalet.

The Concert & Confections at the Chalet is the first event in this year’s winter season series, and an evening of great music in the intimate chalet setting promises to be a highlight of the Bragg Creek winter entertainment scene.

R&B and Jazz tunes while enjoying treats from the Bragg Creek Café & Bakery — all included in your ticket. It’s the perfect Valentine’s date night.

ZENON+ is a mighty duo fronted by ZENON and accompanied by BEV on percussion. They’ll perform original Alternative R&B music and select covers in a captivating live performance.

ZENON+ is the recipient of the 2022 YYCMA Solo Artist of the Year Award, the 2022 YYCMA Solo Artist of the Year Award and the 2021 YYCMA Prophets of Music Emerging Artist Award.

The duo boasts soulful vocals and skilled guitar and keyboard play. From street performers in Calgary to a musician with a Bachelor of Music degree, ZENON’s shows – from Toronto to Vancouver Island – have drawn rave reviews.

“ZENON+ is a remarkable Calgary talent. This concert will be a blast,” says Clint Docken, BCPA president.

It has been described as “an evening celebrating talent, passion, and creativity.”

ZENON performs regularly either solo or with BEV in a duo known as ZENON+

ZENON is a bi-racial singer/songwriter who delivers an incredible interpretation of a variety of genres. Their website describes their sound as “sound is smooth with plenty of soul and their live performance is riveting, filled with jazzy R&B, soaring vocals and a ton of wow factor.”

Serious about a music career, they fearlessly started busking on the streets of Calgary at age 15 to raise tuition and now hold a BMus Degree. They self-released three singles and a debut album titled GENRE Z, available streaming and on vinyl.

Having entered the local music scene after graduating in 2019, ZENON’s trajectory has already been described as skyward. Last year they played 60 live shows including major festivals and top stages, either solo or in their duo or band ZENON+.

Their momentum continued in 2023 with highlights that included opening for Alex Cuba in Edmonton at a private Road to Juno’s gig, performing at the 8th Annual Calgary Blockheater, showcasing two of Canada’s most important festival events: Canadian Music Week (June 5-10) and NXNE (June 13-17).

Their Alberta Concert Series saw them at local theatres throughout the province and they held their vinyl release of GENRE Z at the iconic King Eddy in Calgary and donated 50 per cent of the proceeds to Jack.org.

Doors open at 7:30 pm and the concert starts at 8. For tickets or more information go to braggcreekperformingarts.com.

The Bragg Creek Snowbirds Chalet is at 19 Balsam Avenue.

The Bragg Creek Performing Arts Music Series’ next showcase features Tim Isberg with his story-telling folk music on April 13.

The Bragg Creek Performing Arts Society operates as a registered not-for-profit charity, managed entirely by volunteers. For more information contact Clint at mailto:[email protected].
