UPDATE: March 1, 2 p.m.

An individual was arrested in relation to a drive-by shooting in east Rocky View County on Feb. 24.

On March 1, Airdrie RCMP issued an update on the shooting incident, which took place at a residence along Serenity Place, near Delacour.

"On Feb. 24, 2021 at approximately 1:02 a.m., Airdrie Rural RCMP responded to a complaint from a homeowner who resides in a subdivision off Range Road 284 in Rocky View County," stated a press release. "He reported that his upstairs bedroom window was shattered by a bullet."

According to RCMP, an investigation was launched and as a result of the evidence obtained at the scene, the Airdrie Crime Reduction Unit executed a search warrant on a neighbouring residence on Feb. 26.

During the search warrant, police seized an assortment of drugs and weaponry, including 28.4 grams of crack cocaine, 271.5 grams of cocaine, 362.8 grams of fentanyl and approximately 700 grams of benzocaine. Mounties also seized a restricted nine-millimetre handgun, a .223 carbine-style rifle, ammunition, a cellphone taser and approximately $80,000 CAD.

"The seized firearms were legally owned by the accused persons, and there are further investigational steps being undertaken in relation to the initial shooting complaint," the release stated.

Police have charged Harinder Brar, 30, of Rocky View County with multiple offences, including possession for the purpose of trafficking fentanyl and cocaine, possession of property obtained by crime and possession of a prohibited weapon (the taser).

Brar was released on conditions and was scheduled to appear in Airdrie Provincial Court on Mar. 25.

According to a May 2023 email from Airdrie RCMP, the charges against a second person involved in the incident were dropped in July 2021. A court letter obtained by the Airdrie City View confirmed the details. In addition, Harinder Brar has since passed away.
