Grace Jeanette Schuler (nee Schlaht)
December 3, 1938 – January 4, 2024

Grace Schuler of Airdrie, AB, passed away at the Peter Lougheed Hospital in Calgary, AB on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at the age of 85 years.

Grace was the loving mother of daughter, Janice (Danny) Dunn of Balzac, AB, and son Colin (Rosemary) Schuler of Richmond Hill, ON. She will also be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Sharelle (Mark Stitt), Ryan (Lauren) Dunn, Madison Schuler (Kurtis Michels), and Breanna Schuler; great grandchildren, Mason and Natalie Stitt and baby Dunn; brother, Ferney Schlaht; brother-in-law, John Riddoch; as well as extended Dunn family members, numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Grace was born in Empress, Alberta. She was the eldest of three children and grew up on a farm in Burstall, SK. Growing up, she was very busy helping out on the farm with whatever was needed. As a young girl, she loved music and softball. Grace was married in 1959 and divorced in 1993.

She started working for Tigerstedt Photography in Calgary before she was married. Over the years, she helped run King’s Café in Didsbury as well as working at the Airdrie Bakery and Doubletree Restaurant in Airdrie, working for and with the Hamiltons. She ended her career with 15 years of service at Peter Lougheed Hospital.

Some of her personal favorite things to do included getting her hair done, wearing fresh lipstick, and going out for lunch with friends enjoying waffles or spicy perogy pizza with beer.

Her children and grandchildren will miss having a Peter’s milkshake with her and will especially remember the presentation of her food which miraculously made them eat more. Over her lifetime, Grace enjoyed doing many things with or for her family like baking/cooking traditional German dishes, crocheting, knitting, puzzles, and card games. Along with simply cheering on the Flames and the Blue Jays.

Respecting her wishes, no Service or Memorial will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Grace’s memory to either a charity of your choice or to: Burstall Community Hall via mail at:
