Don Rimes

Don passed away at the Airdrie Care Centre, on December 30th, 2023, with family at his side. Don is survived by his wife Carol of 61 years as well by, his son David Rimes (Shelly), daughter Wendy Hubbard (Ken) of Airdrie and son Dennis Rimes (Ekram) of Calgary. Grandchildren Jen Leadley, Steve Kemp (Anna), DJ Rimes (Chanelle), Justin Hubbard, Nadia Rimes, and Ali Rimes, as well four great-grandchildren. Don was predeceased by his parents Noble and Doris Rimes of Ontario.
Born and raised in the Toronto area, after schooling moved to Oakville where he met his wife and stared his family, later moving to Burk’s Falls to open his auto body-fuel station with Noble. In the mid 1970’s Don decided to pursue his dream of being a farmer and moved his family out west to Calgary, settling in Airdrie. After years of a wide range of agriculture experience (dairy, beef, grain) Don retied to continue his passion of woodworking. Don looked forward to travelling to many regions of the world, spending time with family and friends as well as a fondness for square dancing with Carol in the Calgary area.
Special heartfelt thanks and gratitude to the staff at Airdrie Care Centre for the compassion, kindness and respect Don received for the past year. In lieu of flowers, donations to your favorite charity are appreciated.
A celebration of Don’s life will follow on Saturday March 16th, 2024.
