Mervin Falkenberg passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, with family at his side at Bethany Riverview in Calgary at the age of 73, after a lengthy time living with Lewy Body Dementia. He was the beloved husband of Janet (Bergstresser).

Born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Mervin moved with his family from Winnipeg to Calgary in 1979. He is survived by his wife Janet, two sons Sean (Shon) and Dean (Sherry), and grandchildren Kingston and Jodeanna.

Devoted son of Alex and Leona Falkenberg (both pre-deceased), Mervin was loved and adored by his surviving siblings; Gordon (Sue), Allen (Pat), Norma (Brian Shrimpton), and numerous loved and cherished nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.

Mervin was a career Accountant (CMA) holding executive positions at Enterra Oilfield (Key), Badger Daylighting, and numerous consulting positions, as well as spending 20 years operating a greenhouse business (Greenview Nurseries) with his wife and son, retiring in 2016.

We cannot thank the Staff at Bethany Riverview enough for the care and support during our beloved father and husband’s final years. We also want to thank the many Nurses and Doctors over the years for supporting our family as we navigated this journey.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mervin’s name to Bethany Riverview or the Calgary Parkinson’s Society (for research).

A Celebration of Mervin’s Life will be held on Monday, April 25, 2022 at 2:00 pm at Habebe’s Banquet Hall (2611 37 Ave NE #1, Calgary, AB).
