Wayne Bushfield beloved husband of Shelley (nee Lamb) of Rocky View County, Alberta, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2023 at the age of 72 years.
Wayne was a steward of the land that he was born and raised on and later built his life around. Wayne met Shelley on this land in 1962 at 11 years old and he married Shelley when he was 21 years old in 1972. Wayne and Shelley celebrated their 51st wedding anniversary on June 17, 2023.
Besides his loving wife, Wayne is survived by his daughter Elanor Bushfield (Will Gerrard), and his son Rory Bushfield (Stacey Paradine) who reside in Squamish, British Columbia. He had many wonderful nieces and nephews (Cody Holder, Cale Holder, Del Holder, Trueman Clark, Tai Clark, Tali Blake, Jessica Lamb, William Lamb, Nicole Bushfield and Dustin Lamb, and many great-nieces and nephews). Wayne was predeceased by his mother Norma Ruth Bushfield and his father Roy Archibald Bushfield, and his daughter-in-law, Sarah Jean Burke (2012).
Wayne was a shy man, despite his stature. If you listened to him via his quiet nature, his sense of humour was comical. His family used to say he could fix anything from a broken heart to the crack of dawn. He learned how to be handy in all things from his father, his father-in-law and his two major jobs. Wayne had a career teaching mechanics at SAIT, and he also farmed the land he loved so much for many years. As a steward of the land this brought him great joy. He built the house he and Shelley lived in 1981 and they spent their lives loving their home where they also had many cherished dogs. When he was not working you could find him, season dependent, skiing or at his cabin at Moose Lake which he built in 1978 and treasured. Wayne spent some of his last days at the cabin.
