A group of young Airdrie swimmers took gold in a relay at the Alberta Age Group Championships, March 11-13, beating out top-ranked teams from the University of Calgary and Cascade swim clubs.

Put the razors away and say goodbye to productive evenings for the next two months – the 2011 NHL playoff season has begun.

Last weekend’s Tour de Airdrie road race will go down as one the best in the event’s six-year history. Nearly 300 runners entered the five, 10 and 21-kilometre distances on April 10 and raised more than $20,000 for Victims Assistance groups.

The teachers and RCMP officers may have had the last laugh at the Bert Church Classic, but it was the organizing group and charity that will benefit the most.
