Crossfield council directed administration to look into the costs of modifying plans for the proposed civic building, Aug. 17.

Several Crossfield-area residents expressed concern about a proposed AltaLink transmission line route at an open house at the Crossfield Community Centre, Aug. 18.

The Kneehill Regional Water Services Commission board is hosting a meeting at the Acme Community Centre, Aug. 30, and the public is urged to attend. Last summer, the board requested that the Province conduct a financial review of the Commission.

The Alberta RCMP is cracking down on impaired drivers to reduce accidents this month. “If you drive impaired, your luck will run out — you will get caught,” said James Stiles, an officer with the “K” Division Traffic Services.

Students in Rocky View will soon be heading back to the classroom and Canada’s Public Health Agency is warning kids and parents to be alert to guarantee a safe beginning to the school year.

An editorial in the Calgary Herald last week left me, and likely every other parent with school-aged children, very concerned. It was reported that a 15-year-old Airdrie boy could not handwrite his own name.

The Airdrie Chamber of Commerce is fed up with the lack of schools within the city and wants an immediate change.

Crossfield residents can rest easier knowing stray animals will be cared for. Tails to Tell Animal Shelter, located at 903 Mountain Ave., will take in abandoned and rescued animals starting Sept. 1.
